About Us
The Hecky Group is a full service, client oriented, architectural firm with a focus on all types of residential uses along with mixed use. The firm’s client base includes individuals, real estate developers both for profit and non-profit, as well as housing authorities. The firm has experience with the design of all types of residential architecture from unique single family homes to complex residential/mixed use projects and everything in between.
With over 50 years of experience related to the design of residential and mixed use projects, The Hecky Group provides clients in all regions of the country with the expertise to meet today’s ever changing requirements as relates to the design of residential and mixed use architecture. Life style changes, socio-economic considerations, cost, finances, energy efficiency, sustainability, accessibility, and code changes have made residential and mixed use architecture challenging for all involved parties.
The Hecky Group has been involved in the design of over 12,000 living units with projects located all across the United States. Project types include single family; market and affordable low-rise, mid-rise and high-rise elderly housing; low-rise market and affordable family housing, public housing and mixed use.

Larry Hecky, AIA - Principal
Education

Bachelor of Architecture, Kent State University, graduating in 1963
Registration

First registered to practice architecture in Ohio in 1965 (License No. 3779). Since that time, he attained registration in over 20 states, including California. Current active registration in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, South Carolina and Florida.

Experience

Larry Hecky throughout his career has been at the forefront of design and construction technology as they relate to multi-family residential, adaptive reuse, mixed use and historic projects. He has been recognized for this achievement with awards both on the local and national level.

He was a pioneer in the field and a key participant in the development of a pre-cast concrete building system that was utilized to build thousands of living units all over the United States and other parts of the world.
Sean Kaine - Project Manager

Bachelor of Architecture, Kent State University, graduating in 1998
Experience

In addition to working with The Hecky Group Sean Kaine has worked for the Urban Design Center of Northeast Ohio and the City of Cleveland Heights Planning Department.

He has been the chairman of both the City of Kent Planning Commission and Sustainability Commission. While on those commissions oversaw a comprehensive zoning code review and was instrumental in the adoption of a resolution requiring LEED silver certification for new city buildings.
